Vegetable Oil

Prutul is one of the main companies in Romania that deals with the crushing, refining and bottling vegetable oils and their marketing. It is also an important producer and exporter of High Oleic refined sunflower oil in Romania and South-Eastern Europe.

Prutul owns the factory in Galați which has the longest tradition in the production of vegetable oil in Romania (since 1893). Following an extensive investment program it is currently one of the largest and most modern vegetable oil factories in our country.

The Prutul Factory produces a full range of sunflower oils, both Conventional/Linoleic oil and High Oleic, and also various blends of refined vegetable oils for the food industry.

Prutul was the first company to launch on the local market, since 2015, the first Romanian 100% High Oleic oil, currently leading the market segments with this special sunflower oil.

We also market the by-products resulting from the manufacturing process of the oil, i.e. sunflower meal (used for animal feeding), sunflower husk pellets (used as biofuel) and fatty acids (for various processing industries).

The company holds industry-leading certifications (ISO, IFS, FSSC, FDA, Kosher, Halal), and is affiliated with some of the most prestigious organizations in the industry (FOSFA, GAFTA).

Over time, the investments made by the company have also aimed at modernizing the vegetable oil factory and ensuring the highest standards of product quality and food safety.

The Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) certification company has granted the Prutul Factory certification according to ISO 9001/2008 for the field of activity “Processing oil raw materials, refining and bottling of vegetable oils and marketing of vegetable oils”, as well as certification according to ISO 22000/2005 standard for the entire production process.

In 2012, Prutul has obtained the FSSC certification (Food Safety System Certification) from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance, which is a comprehensive certification scheme for food safety management systems. This scheme is based on the global ISO 22000 standard referring to food safety management systems, as well on PAS 220, a standard that has been developed to meet the requirements of mandatory preliminary programs in food and ingredient production facilities.

These certifications granted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance, a body accredited by the UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) International Institute, reaffirms the Prutul’s commitment to the quality of all its products.

Prutul is constantly attentive to new food safety requirements for the products supplied, further proof being the High Level assessment received by the company at the IFS FOOD Version 6.1 certification, by Rina Services, a body accredited by the International Education of Accredia.

As of March 1, 2016, Prutul is a member of FOSFA.

FOSFA promotes international trade in oilseeds and derivatives, with approximately 85% of the global vegetable oil and fat trade being carried out through FOSFA contracts.
